[Review] Droplets - Colbie Caillat ft. Jason Reeves

This is a song that i've been listened to lately. Once again, it's Colbie Caillat's song that blew me away. I heard this song first time at Matahari, Tunjungan Plaza and in a sudden i'm fell in love with it. Colbie is duetting with Jason Reeves which make a stunning voice composition. So, this is it. Droplets! Enjoy it! I put the sing a long version here. Trust me, this song is really nice !

Anyway, just another information, Droplets is taken from Breakthrough album which released on August 25, 2009 and this is the 6th track from those.

And, about the song meanings, i take it from Whoabadong from http://www.songmeanings.net/

This song speaks of a couple that for some reason or another find themselves apart and at risk of separating. They don't realize that the other is also feeling similarly about missing each other. Her mind feels clouded with all sorts of tugs and pulls and she likens these to rain droplets coalescing around images of him. She may not be aware that she won't find peace of mind away from him because he really is that peace, and deep down she knows that. She fights the impulse to accept this truth of his centrality in her mind and soul and says that right now she doesn't need these reminders and droplets of him. Ironically, while walking down this road of separation and confusion alone, really all she can think about is him, which in a way keeps him with her; he remains her companion, if only through an emotional and enduring attachment in her heart.

He mirrors her pain, but has different reminders. A mark above his heart on his chest that she left may have been a slap in the chest while fighting, maybe a playful love tap during the good times, maybe something else entirely. But whatever it is, it's placed there as part of his body and won't leave him. He, too, takes a lone walk but really can't escape from her. He says he's alone, but like her, is fully attached to her and her companionship endures even as he seeks solace and personal fulfillment outside of their relationship. Both of them fight against doubts of the other, but what is so true about the lyrics here is that they both suffer from those doubts only because of some kind of lack of trust. If only they knew that both of them feel identically about their situation. It would take a leap of faith, maybe less, but in some measure reconciliation is right in front of them if they just trusted each other enough to just say what they feel. They would discover so much connection and enduring love, but unfortunately, they wander for a time separately through their own emotions.

The songs ends without a conclusion, but we are left with an assurance that this couple will survive through whatever current trials they are facing because both of them speak the same language and the same hopes and fears. In a way, I find the song beckoning those of us in struggling relationships to now take a step toward each other, take the risk, and reconcile whatever wedges are in the relationship. After all, these relationships are so enduring in a way, that marks are left indelibly by those that love us that we cannot fully erase them, even if we insist that we walk on roads alone.
